Tropical Storm Arthur, the first named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, has been downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone.
Despite the downgrade, the storm continues to bring life-threatening flooding, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall to parts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Why It's Important?

The storm poses significant risks, including life-threatening flash flooding and damaging winds. Nearly three million residents in Louisiana are under flash flood alerts, with Baton Rouge and New Orleans among the most affected areas. Flooding is expected to worsen, potentially causing widespread and locally catastrophic damage. Residents are advised to avoid driving on flooded roads and to follow local emergency guidance. The storm surge along the Texas coastline reached up to 3 feet, further exacerbating the situation.
